Shimla Manali Tour Package from Delhi

  • DURATION 04 Nights 05 Days
  • TYPE OF TRIP ROAD TRIP
  • START CITY Delhi
  • DESTINATION CITY Shimla - Kullu - Solang Valley - Manali

This Shimla Manali tour package from Delhi is a 4 nights and 5 days road circuit with two nights in Shimla and two in Manali, all in a chauffeur-driven car or Tempo Traveller from Delhi. Day 2 goes beyond Kufri to Narkanda and Hatu Peak, and the last day fits in Manali sightseeing before the drive home. The road out is NH44 to Zirakpur and NH5 through Kalka to Shimla (about 350 km, 7 to 8 hours); the middle leg is Shimla to Manali via Mandi, the Aut tunnel and Kullu (about 250 km, 7 to 8 hours); the return is Manali to Delhi on NH3 and NH44, about 540 km and 12 to 14 hours.

Altitude steps up as you go: Shimla about 2,200 m, Kufri about 2,700 m, Hatu Peak near Narkanda about 3,400 m, then down to Manali at about 2,050 m and up again to Solang Valley at about 2,500 m. In Shimla the sights are The Ridge, Mall Road, Christ Church, Jakhu Temple and the Viceregal Lodge; in Manali they are Hidimba Devi Temple, Old Manali, Vashisht hot springs, Manu Temple and Mall Road, with Solang for activities and the Atal Tunnel or Rohtang for snow.

The 4 nights and 5 days Shimla Kullu Manali tour package works in most months. December to February bring snow at Kufri, Narkanda and Solang; March to June is the main season; July and August carry a landslide risk on the Mandi to Kullu road, so allow buffer time; October and November are the months for long, clear views. Narkanda's road can close briefly after heavy snow, in which case Day 2 ends at Kufri.

Detailed Itinerary of Shimla Manali Tour from Delhi

Day 1: Delhi - Shimla

Start the Shimla Manali tour by car from Delhi at about 6 am; the 350 km takes 7 to 8 hours with a breakfast halt near Karnal. If you prefer, the driver can drop you at Kalka for the toy train and meet you at Shimla station about 5 hours later. Check in on arrival. Late afternoon at Jakhu Temple with its 108-foot Hanuman statue, ropeway down towards The Ridge, then Christ Church, Scandal Point and Mall Road. Lakkar Bazaar is a short walk away for wooden crafts. Overnight in Shimla.

Day 2: Shimla Sightseeing - Kufri - Narkanda

Leave by 8 am. The Viceregal Lodge (Indian Institute of Advanced Study) comes first, then the road east: Kufri (16 km) for the Himalayan Nature Park and Kufri fun park, and on through Fagu and Theog to Narkanda, about 60 km from Shimla and around 2.5 hours. From Narkanda a jeep track of about 8 km climbs to Hatu Peak and the Hatu Mata temple; in winter this hillside is Narkanda's ski slope. Lunch at Narkanda. On the way back, detour to Naldehra golf course and Mashobra if daylight allows, or take the pony ride at Kufri. Overnight in Shimla.

Day 3: Shimla - Kullu - Manali

Leave early for the 7 to 8 hour drive. The road descends through Bilaspur to Sundernagar and Mandi, follows the Beas past Pandoh Dam, passes through the Aut tunnel and enters the Kullu valley. Stops at the Hanogi Mata temple, a Kullu shawl showroom, and the rafting point near Bhuntar for a river run at your own cost. Reach Manali by evening.

If you arrive before dark, walk Manali's Mall Road and the Tibetan monastery lane; the main Manali sights are kept for Day 5. Overnight in Manali.

Day 4: Solang Valley Tour from Manali

This 5 Days Shimla Manali tour package gives a full day up the valley. Drive 14 km to Solang for paragliding in Manali, zorbing, the ropeway, and skiing or snow play in winter, each paid on the spot. Beyond Solang, choose between Rohtang Pass (permit and a Manali taxi required; your Delhi vehicle waits at Solang) or the 9 km Atal Tunnel to Sissu in Lahaul, which is open to outside vehicles. Gulaba and the waterfalls on the Rohtang road are the usual photo stops. Return to Manali by evening. For a longer stay in the valley, see our Manali tour package. Overnight in Manali.

Day 5: Manali Sightseeing - New Delhi

Early morning at Hidimba Devi Temple, Manu Temple in Old Manali and the Vashisht hot springs, then Van Vihar if time allows. Leave Manali by 10 am at the latest; the drive to Delhi is about 540 km, 12 to 14 hours with meal halts at Mandi and Kiratpur. Arrival in Delhi late at night; the tour ends on drop.

Route notes for the Delhi, Shimla, Narkanda and Manali circuit

  • Delhi to Shimla about 350 km (7 to 8 hours); Shimla to Narkanda about 60 km each way; Shimla to Manali roughly 250 km, 7 to 8 hours; Manali back to Delhi roughly 540 km, 12 to 14 hours.
  • Meal halts are at highway restaurants near Karnal on Day 1, at Narkanda on Day 2, near Mandi on Days 3 and 5, and near Kiratpur on Day 5; the driver stops when you ask.
  • Shimla's Mall Road is pedestrian-only: the vehicle drops at the Cart Road lift or hotel parking. Manali's Mall Road is likewise closed to vehicles.
  • Rohtang Pass runs on a daily permit quota and is served only by Manali-registered taxis beyond Solang; the Delhi vehicle waits at Solang. The Atal Tunnel to Sissu has no such restriction. The Hatu Peak track is a jeep road and may be closed after snow.
  • The package covers the chauffeur-driven AC vehicle from Delhi, driver's charges, fuel, tolls, state tax, parking and permit fees where applicable. It does not cover hotels, meals, toy train tickets, Solang activities, the Rohtang taxi and entry tickets.
  • Suits travellers who want two full days each in the Shimla and Manali areas, including Narkanda, and can accept a long final day.

Shimla Manali Tourist Places

Shimla's main sights are The Ridge, Mall Road, Jakhu Temple, Christ Church, Scandal Point, the State Museum, Summer Hill, Chadwick Falls, the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Annandale and the Tara Devi Temple. Around Shimla are Kufri, Narkanda, Naldehra, Chail, Solan and Mashobra. On the Manali side, Sundernagar lake and Pandoh Dam are seen on the way in, Raghunath Temple is in Kullu town, and in Manali itself there are Manu Temple, Hidimba Devi Temple, the Solang Valley tour, Rohtang Pass, Van Vihar, Nehru Kund, Jogini Falls and the Vashisht hot springs, all on or beside the Beas.

Best Time to Visit Shimla Manali

May and June are the most popular months for this circuit, when the plains are hot and the hills stay between roughly 15 and 25 degrees. For snow, travel between December and February; a longer Shimla Kullu Manali 7 days tour in those months gives room for weather delays. The monsoon in July and August is green but slow on the roads. For a short winter break, a 3 days Shimla Kufri Tour in January is the simplest way to see snow at Kufri.

How to reach Shimla

Shimla is best reached by road. Fixed-departure Volvo coaches run from Delhi, and for a private trip you can book a Delhi to Shimla tempo traveller or car with us. Shimla has no broad-gauge station; take a train to Kalka or Chandigarh and then a taxi, or ride the Kalka-Shimla toy train, which takes about 5 hours for the 96 km hill line against about 3 hours by road. Delhi to Kalka by train is 4 to 5 hours. If you arrive by train, a Toyota Etios car on rent in Shimla covers the local sightseeing. Flights land at Chandigarh, from where Shimla is about 3.5 hours by road and Manali about 270 km, 6 to 7 hours.
