Delhi Nainital Tour Overview

  • DURATION 02 Nights 03 Days
  • TYPE OF TRIPROAD TRIP
  • START CITY Delhi
  • DESTINATION CITYNainital

Nainital sits at about 2,000 metres in the Kumaon hills, roughly 300 km from Delhi. The road runs east along NH9 through Moradabad and Rampur, then climbs from Kathgodam, and a chauffeur-driven car covers it in about 7 to 8 hours with a meal break. This 2 nights 3 days package is built for a long weekend: one day of driving each way and one clear day in the town itself.

The town is arranged around Naini Lake, with the Mall Road along one shore and the Naina Devi temple at the northern end. Snow View is reached by ropeway from Mallital and, on a clear morning between October and March, gives a line of Himalayan peaks. Bhimtal and Sattal lie about 20 to 25 km below Nainital and are quieter than the main lake; both are easy to fit into the sightseeing day.

Nainital fills up in May, June and around Diwali, when hotel rates rise and the Mall Road is closed to private vehicles for parts of the day. April and October to November are the better months for walking and for views. Winter brings occasional snow and cold nights. The vehicle stays with you for the whole trip, so the plan below can be reordered on the day.

Travel Itinerary
Day 1: Delhi - Nainital

Pick-up from your Delhi address at around 6 am. The drive follows NH9 past Ghaziabad and Hapur to Moradabad, with a breakfast halt near Gajraula and a lunch stop near Rampur or Rudrapur. After Haldwani and Kathgodam the road climbs about 35 km of hill road to Nainital. Expect to reach the hotel by mid to late afternoon; there is time for a walk on the Mall Road before dinner.

Day 2: Nainital sightseeing tour

Leave after breakfast for the lake circuit: Bhimtal, Sattal and Naukuchiatal, each about 30 to 45 minutes apart, with boating available at Bhimtal. Return to Nainital for lunch, then take the ropeway to Snow View, visit the Naina Devi temple and, if time permits, the High Altitude Zoo. Boating on Naini Lake is paid locally. The evening is free for the Mall Road and the Tibetan market.

Day 3: Nainital - Delhi

Check out after breakfast and start down by 9 am to clear the hill section before the midday traffic at Kathgodam. Lunch is taken on the highway near Rampur. Drop at your Delhi address by evening, usually between 5 and 7 pm depending on traffic on the Ghaziabad approach.
