This is a short road trip built around two places: Manali, at about 2,050 m in the upper Kullu valley, and Solang Valley, about 13 km further up the Beas at roughly 2,500 m. The package runs for 03 nights and 04 days from Delhi. Two of the four days are spent on the road, so the plan keeps sightseeing to one full day in Manali town and one at Solang rather than spreading it thin.
The drive follows NH3 through Chandigarh, Bilaspur and Mandi, then along the Beas through the Aut tunnel and Kullu to Manali. Allow 12 to 14 hours including breaks. The road is open all year, though the Mandi to Kullu section slows down in the July and August monsoon when landslides are common, and fresh snow can shut the last stretch to Solang for a few hours in January.
When to go depends on what you want from Solang. For snow, skiing and sledging, the window is December to February. From April to June the snow has gone and the valley turns to paragliding, zorbing, the ropeway and quad bikes. In Manali itself the day is divided between Hidimba Devi Temple, Old Manali, the hot springs at Vashisht and the Mall Road. If the Atal Tunnel or Rohtang is on your list, mention it when booking, since Rohtang needs a permit and both depend on the season.
Leave Delhi early, ideally before 6 am, to clear the city and reach Chandigarh by breakfast. The vehicle stops for lunch around Bilaspur or Mandi, after which the road runs along the Beas through the Aut tunnel and past Kullu. Expect to reach Manali by evening after 12 to 14 hours. Check in and rest; nothing is scheduled for the night.
A full day in and around Manali town. Start at Hidimba Devi Temple, the wooden pagoda-style shrine in a deodar grove, and the nearby Manu Temple in Old Manali. Cross the river to Vashisht for the hot spring baths and the stone temples. After lunch the driver takes you to the Tibetan monasteries near the bus stand and then to the Mall Road, where the evening is free for walking and shopping. Overnight in Manali.
Drive up the Beas past Palchan to Solang Valley, about 13 km and 40 minutes from Manali. Between December and February the slopes are used for skiing and snow sledging; in the warmer months the same ground hosts paragliding, zorbing and quad biking, and the gondola ropeway runs through most of the year. All activities are paid for on the spot. Return to Manali by late afternoon; if the road and permit allow, a detour through the Atal Tunnel to Sissu can be added at extra cost. Overnight in Manali.
Check out after an early breakfast and start the return drive down the Kullu valley. With a lunch stop near Mandi or Bilaspur, the vehicle reaches Delhi late in the evening, where the tour ends at your drop point.
