Delhi Shopping Tour Packages

Delhi has a market for every budget, and the trick to a good shopping day is knowing which one to go to and on which day. Our private shopping tour package in Delhi gives you a chauffeur-driven AC car for the day and, if you want one, a guide who knows the lanes, so you can move from a wholesale bazaar in the old city to a boutique in Khan Market without carrying bags across the metro.

The car is the point. Purchases go into the boot after each stop, the driver waits at the nearest car park while you browse, and there is no bargaining with auto-rickshaws between markets. Tell us what you are after, whether wedding wear, fabric by the metre, export-surplus clothing, handicrafts or spices, and we set the order of the markets around it and around their closing days.

Closing days matter more here than in most cities. Chandni Chowk and Sadar Bazaar are shut on Sundays, while Sarojini Nagar, Lajpat Nagar and Karol Bagh close on Mondays. Dilli Haat, Khan Market and the malls open every day. A Tuesday to Saturday tour can therefore cover both the old city and the south Delhi markets in a single day.

Famous Shopping Destinations in Delhi

Chandni Chowk: The old city's main market and the place for wholesale saris, lehengas and wedding trim. Fabrics in Katra Neel, silver in Dariba Kalan, trimmings in Kinari Bazaar and spices at Khari Baoli at the western end. Closed on Sundays; go early, because the lanes are choked by midday.

Sadar Bazaar: Delhi's largest wholesale market, a short drive west of Chandni Chowk, for household goods, toys, stationery, imitation jewellery and festival decorations. Prices are per dozen or per box, so it suits bulk buyers. Closed on Sundays.

Karol Bagh: Ajmal Khan Road and Gaffar Market for ready-made Indian wear, footwear, electronics and gold jewellery, at retail prices that sit between the old city and the malls. A bridal trousseau can be done here in one afternoon. Closed on Mondays.

Connaught Place and Janpath: The colonial-era circle at the centre of the city has brand showrooms in the inner and outer circles, the Tibetan Market and pavement stalls on Janpath for kurtas, silver and leather, and the state emporiums on Baba Kharak Singh Marg for fixed-price handicrafts.

Sarojini Nagar: The export-surplus market in south Delhi, where clothing made for Western labels is sold from stalls at a fraction of its shop price. Sizes are mixed and there are no changing rooms, so check seams and carry a measuring tape. Closed on Mondays.

Lajpat Nagar: Central Market in Lajpat Nagar is where Delhi buys Punjabi suits, dupattas, bedding and shoes, with tailors who can stitch a suit set the same day. Closed on Mondays.

Dilli Haat, INA: An open-air crafts market run by the state where artisans from across India sell from rotating stalls: blue pottery, Madhubani paintings, brass, cane and pashmina. Small entry fee, open every day, and regional food stalls for lunch.

Khan Market and the malls: Khan Market for bookshops, designer boutiques, home decor and tea, and Select Citywalk in Saket or DLF Emporio in Vasant Kunj if you want international brands and air-conditioning. All open daily.

A typical full-day shopping tour in Delhi runs old city first, then Connaught Place, then south Delhi, ending at Khan Market or a mall. A half day covers two or three markets. A guide helps with bargaining and with checking quality at the wholesale markets, where a good price on a poor bolt of fabric is not a good buy.

The vehicle for a Delhi guided shopping tour is a chauffeur-driven AC sedan, Innova or tempo traveller, depending on the number of people and how much you expect to carry home. Bulk buyers heading for Sadar Bazaar should take the larger vehicle.

Send us your dates and your shopping list for the Delhi Shopping Tour and we will confirm which markets will be open and the order that saves the most driving.
