Golden Triangle 3 days Tour Overview

  • DURATION 02 Nights 03 Days
  • TYPE OF TRIPROAD TRIP
  • START CITY Delhi
  • DESTINATION CITYDelhi - Agra - Jaipur

Three days is the shortest sensible time for the Golden Triangle: Delhi, Agra and Jaipur sit at the corners of a rough triangle with sides of 230 to 280 km, and the roads between them are now good enough that no leg takes more than 5 hours. This 2 nights 3 days plan spends the first day in Delhi and drives to Agra in the evening, sees the Taj Mahal at sunrise on the second day before crossing to Jaipur through Fatehpur Sikri, and gives Jaipur the third morning before the run back to Delhi.

Agra is about 3 hours from Delhi on the Yamuna Expressway. Jaipur is 4 to 5 hours from Agra on NH21, with Fatehpur Sikri 40 km out of Agra on the same road. Jaipur to Delhi is about 5 hours on NH48. The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays, so the second day is never scheduled on one. In Jaipur the morning goes to Amber Fort on the hill north of the city, and the afternoon to the City Palace, Jantar Mantar and Hawa Mahal, which stand within a few hundred metres of each other in the old walled town.

The vehicle is a private AC car or a luxury tempo traveller from Delhi with the same driver throughout, so luggage stays on board between the three cities. Hotels for the two nights, monument tickets and meals are not part of the base price and are added on request.

Travel Itinerary

Pick-up at 8 am. Old Delhi first: Jama Masjid, a cycle rickshaw through Chandni Chowk, and the Red Fort from outside or inside as time allows. Then Humayun's Tomb, Qutub Minar and a drive past India Gate and Rashtrapati Bhavan. Leave Delhi by 4 pm on the Yamuna Expressway and reach Agra by 7 pm. Overnight at Agra.

Day 2: Agra City Tour with adorable Taj
  •   At the Taj Mahal east gate before sunrise; about two hours inside, with the mausoleum ticket bought in advance.

  •   Early lunch on Fatehabad Road.
  •   Leave Agra at about 1 pm for Fatehpur Sikri, 40 km west: Buland Darwaza, the Jama Masjid and the Salim Chishti dargah, then the palace complex with the Panch Mahal. About two hours on site.
  •   Continue on NH21 through Bharatpur and Dausa to Jaipur, about 4 hours.
  •   Arrive at Jaipur by 8 pm and check in.
Day 3: Jaipur sightseeing and back to Delhi

Amber Fort from 8 am, by jeep or on foot up the ramp, with the Sheesh Mahal and the view over Maota lake. A stop at Jal Mahal on the way back into town. City Palace and Jantar Mantar before lunch, Hawa Mahal from the street outside, and an hour in Johari Bazaar for lac bangles or block prints. Leave Jaipur by 3 pm on NH48 and reach Delhi by about 8 pm.
